For four generations, the Vanhove family has been involved in boating on the Bassin.
It all began with Auguste Vanhove, chief engineer in the merchant navy at Chargeurs Réunis and Pêcheries de l’Océan in Arcachon.
In 1946, his son Robert founded the Atelier de la Mécanique Navale Vanhove, specializing in the sale and repair of marine engines and propeller calculation. He was one of the first to marinize an inboard engine based on Renault and developed the Renault Marine network in Aquitaine.
His sons, Michel and Francis, continued the family adventure with SEMEI (Société d’Équipements Marine et Industrie), representing the biggest engine brands for fishing and pleasure boating.
In 2001, Michel Vanhove created Agence Nautique to diversify into boat rental and sales, thus meeting the growing demand on the Bassin d’Arcachon. His daughter Charlotte, Captain 200/250 KW and state-certified water sports instructor, joined him to share her passion for the sea.
For 23 years, Agence Nautique has perpetuated this family know-how through motorboat rental, organization of nautical events and personalized maritime concierge service.
